Artur Szyk Exhibit in Kraków
An exhibition of the Polish-Jewish-American artist, Artur (Arthur) Szyk (1894-1951) will open this Summer at the Stradom Dialogue Centre, Stradomska Street 11 (near Wawel Castle), Kraków. The opening will take place on June 20, 2011. The exhibition is organized by Kraków resident Professor Dr. Aleksander Skotnicki (recent winner of the Karski and Nireńska Prizes for work on Polish-Jewish heritage), with the cooperation of The Arthur Szyk Society, Burlingame, California, USA. The exhibition will focus on building bridges between Jews and Poles, and Poland and the United States, as seen through the art of Arthur Szyk.
Irvin Ungar, Curator of The Arthur Szyk Society, will deliver the keynote talk at the opening.
